The month of November is observed as Mathematics month. The theme for this year’s Mathematics month is:

“The Arts and Mathematics: Exploring, Your Creative Potential.”

Today’s Power Number:

One number is written on a board and students express their interpretation of the number. (everyday throughout November)


Problem Pals:

Form Five (5) students secretly exchange Math problems with each other through letters. They will reveal their identities on November 11th, 2016 at Mathematics Day Activities.


Mathematics Essay Competition:

Topic: “Your school decided to ban the teaching of Mathematics. do you agree or disagree with this choice. Give three reasons for your choice and include examples from your daily life.”

Deadline : November 14th, 2016

Prizes to be awarded on November 25th, 2016 at District Parade.


Brain Teasers:

Students write responses to brain teasers and place in a box. At the end of the day, one student’s response is selected at random. Winner for the day is recorded. Prizes to be awarded on November 11th, 2016 at Prize giving ceremony.

Every other day beginning November 1st – 11th, 2016.


Mathematics T-Shirt Design:

Students will design original, unpublished work which must include any third party logos or copyrighted material based on the theme. The design will be featured on the front of a t-shirt and should not exceed 8.5 x 11 inches. The 5 best designs will be selected. Student’s wining design will be featured on November 25th, 2016 during the parade.

  • 10:30 a.m. –                        Departmental Assembly
  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. –    Mathematics Jeopardy (Inter house teams)
  • 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 pm –         Mathematics Treasure Hunt
  • 1:45 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. –      Remix Competition
  • 2:30 p.m. – 3: 00 p.m. –    Prize Giving Ceremony


Participation in the District Parade:

Friday, November 25th, 2016

Form 1 students will represent S.C.S.S and make a presentation on one problem in Mathematics for students. A Form One student will also participate in the remix competition.
